The 17th Asia Pacific Research Prize (Iue Prize)

- Application Outline -

The Asia Pacific Forum, Awaji Conference Japan, which was inaugurated in 2000 to define a “new Asia Pacific vision” of symbiosis among the diverse cultures of the Asia Pacific region and to create policy proposals to achieve this, established the Asia Pacific Research Prize (Iue Prize) to acknowledge outstanding dissertations in the field of humanities or social sciences concerning the Asia Pacific region.

Applications for the 17th Asia Pacific Research Prize are invited under the following conditions:

Eligibility

Japanese or international students who have officially enrolled in a post-graduate course at a Japanese graduate school and have been conferred a doctorate from such institution after March 2015. A letter of recommendation is required from the advisor of the graduate school.

Dissertation (hereinafter referred to as "the Paper")
1． The Paper should detail research in the humanities or social sciences that contributes to the realization of a “multicultural symbiotic society” in the Asia Pacific region
2． Re-application of once rejected paper is not acceptable.
Application documents
All documents 1. and 2.1 to 2.4 listed below must reach by Friday April 20, 2018: No direct submission is acceptable.

1. Prescribed Letter of Recommendation (downloadable from the website shown below),
2. Supplementary Documents (either in Japanese or English)

Documents 2.1. to 2.3. must be submitted in an A4 sized-paper copy and 2.4. in an electronic medium,
2.1. Copy of the Paper (either in sheets or bound-in)
2.2. Outline of the Paper (one page; single-sided printing)
2.3. Summary of the Outline (120-word summary of the outline of the paper mentioned above)
2.4. Recording medium such as a CD-ROM or USB flash drive containing PDF data 2.1. to 2.3 shown above. Each data must be saved as an individual PDF file under the applicant’s surname, e.g. “DOE Paper.pdf”;

Selection of prizewinners
The Selection Committee will undertake review and selection.
Number of prizewinners and prize details
1.Number of prizewinners：Approximately two
2.Details of prize：Prize certificate and prize money (Iue Prize: one million yen)
Announcement of the results of review and selection
1. The name of the prizewinners will be announced in July 2018 (tentative).
2. The result of the selection will be notified in writing.
3. The outlines of the prizewinning papers will be published in our Annual Report of the Awaji Conference.
