He was born in Kanagawa Prefecture and graduated from Georgetown University in the United States in 1985. In 1996, he was first elected to the House of Representatives in the 41st general election and has since served nine consecutive terms. His past positions include Chairman of the National Public Safety Commission, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Defense, Minister in charge of Administrative Reform, and Minister in charge of COVID-19 Vaccine Roll-out. He has been in his current position since September 2023.

He was born in Hyogo Prefecture and graduated from the Faculty of Technology at Keio University. He joined Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. in 1981 and became Senior Manager of Thermal Technology Department in the Technical Institute of the Corporate Technology Division in 2004, Executive in 2009, Deputy General Manager of the Corporate Technology Division in 2014, Executive Officer, Deputy General Manager of the Corporate Technology Division, Head of Center for Technology Planning Promotion, and Head of Hydrogen-Chain Project Development Center in 2015, and Managing Executive Officer and General Manager of the Hydrogen Strategy Division in 2021. In 2024, he was appointed Senior Executive Fellow(Hydrogen Business Promotion)of KHI and President and Representative Director of Japan Suiso Energy, Ltd.
President, mono AI Technology CO,Ltd
He founded mono AI in 2005 after working as a server engineer and at a major console game development company.
He started research and development of online games when there was no culture of online game development in Japan. The results of his efforts led to the launch of the Monobit real-time communication engine in 2013. In 2020, the company released a large-scale virtual space construction platform, “XR CLOUD.” In 2022, mono AI became the first metaverse-related company in Japan to be listed on the Growth Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Prior to her current position, She worked at the World Economic Forum Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Japan and other organizations. Her specialty is information law and public policy. She has conducted research on the governance of data and AI and contributed to the rule-making process by organizing international meetings. In 2023, she planned and managed the G7 official public-private event “Digital Transformation Summit,” which was referenced in the Ministerial Declaration from the G7 Digital and Tech Ministers’ Meeting. Her co-authored works include AI and the Constitution and Robots, AI and the Law (both published in Japanese).
