Born in 1963.Graduated from Hitotsubashi University,the Faculty of law(International law),in 1986 and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Studied at the University of Heidelberg,Germany,from 1987 to 1989.First Secretary,Permanent Mission of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament,Geneva,from 1999 to 2001. Director,Multilateral Cultural Cooperation Division,from 2003 to 04.Director,Crisis Management Division,in 2006.Counsellor,Permanent Mission of Japan to UNESCO,Paris,from 2006-08.Director,Humanitarian Assistance and Emergency Relief Division,from 2009 to 11.Since 2011,Lecturer(non-full time),Graduate School of Public Policy,University of Kyoto(Humanitarian assistance).Since 2013,Professor,Graduate School of Law,Hitotsubashi University(diplomacy,international relations).

Born in State of New Jersey,the United States in 1968.He earned his M.A.and Ph.D.in political science at the Graduate School of Law,Kobe University,in 1996 and 1999 respectively(studying under Dr.Iokibe Makoto),and his B.A.in International Relations,Cum Laude with High Departmental Honors,in 1990 from Lynchburg College in Virginia , after studying in Paris, France ,and Washington,D.C.He was a tenured associate professor of Japanese Political and Diplomatic History at Osaka University’s Graduate School of International Public Policy in Osaka, Japan.He has served on the boards of several professional and academic associations including the Asiatic Society of Japan(Tokyo)and Okinawa Peace Assistance Center(Naha).He served as Scholar-in-Residence at the headquarters of U.S.Marine Corps Forces Pacific at Camp Smith,in Hawaii,in 2004-2005.In 2000-2001,he was a research fellow at the Research Institute for Peace and Security in Tokyo and a Torii Fellow at the Suntory Foundation in Osaka from 1999-2000.He is also a visiting Scholar at Okinawa International University’s Institute of Law and Politics. His writings include“The Senkaku Islands and the Reversion of Okinawa”(Routledge,to be published in 2014),“Iwo Jima and Ogasawara in U.S.-Japan Relations:American Strategy,Japanese Territory,and the Islanders In-between”(in Japanese,Nanpo Shinsha,2008,to be published by Marine Corps University Press in 2014),“The Return of the Amami Islands:The Reversion Movement and U.S.- Japan Relations”(Lexington,2004)and“The Origins of the Bilateral Okinawa Problem:Okinawa in Postwar U.S.-Japan Relations,1945-1952”(Routledge,2001).

1984:Graduated from the Division of Law and Economics,Faculty of Humanities,Chiba University.
1984:Joined NISSAN MOTOR COMPANY in charge of non-life insurance policy management in the General Affairs Department.
2000:Moved to the Finance Department to develop a global insurance program and promote the use of a captive insurance company as a risk financing tool.Also made efforts to prevent or minimize losses from natural disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes.
2007:Moved to the Global Internal Audit Office(current position)to develop a company-wide risk management structure.
2005:Became a member of the Risk Finance Study Group established by the Industry Finance Division of the Ministry of Economy,Trade and Industry(METI).
2005:Became a member of the BCP Working Group established by the Industrial Standards Office of METI.
2012:Became a member of the JIS Drafting Committee for ISO 22300 and ISO 22301.

Koji Murata (Coordinator)

President, Doshisha University

Born in Kobe, Hyogo in 1964. Graduated from the Doshisha University Faculty of Law in 1987. Studied at George Washington University(USA) from 1991 to 1995. Completed the Doctoral Program of the Kobe University Graduate School of Law (International Relations) in 1995 and began teaching as a full-time lecturer (American Studies) at the Hiroshima University Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences. Obtained a Doctorate (Political Science) from Kobe University in 1998. Served as an assistant professor at the Hiroshima University Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences in 1999, an assistant professor (History of Foreign Policy & National Security Policy) at the Doshisha University Faculty of Law in 2000. Has been teaching at the Doshisha University Faculty of Law as a professor since 2005.

Named Dean of Doshisha University Faculty of Law in 2011. Named President of Doshisha University in 2013. Specialized in American diplomacy and national security policy. His writings include “Changes in Current USA Diplomacy: From Reagan and Bush to Obama” (Yuhikaku, 2009) and “American Diplomacy” (Kodansha, 2005).
