Tamotsu Aoki was born in Tokyo in 1938. He has studied cultural anthropology at the University of Tokyo (BA, MA) and Osaka University (Ph.D.). He has taught as a professor at Osaka University, the University of Tokyo, and the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies(GRIPS). He was the Commissioner of the Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Director General of the National Art Center, Tokyo. Since this April, he is a Senior Fellow at GRIPS Alliance, in charge of the Cultural Policy Research Program.Since 1965, he has done fieldwork in Thailand and Sri Lanka.
He became a Buddhist monk at a Thai Buddhist temple in Bangkok from 1972 to 1973.Among his many books,there are“Bunka-ryoku no Jidai “(An Era of Power of Culture),“Girei no Shochosei” (The Symbolism of Ritual) and “Edward Hopper, Seijuku to Kyori”(Edward Hopper Silence and Distance)(2019).

Thai economist / technocrat, is known for his continuous involvement in the economic development of Thailand in many capacities, and in ASEAN and APEC affairs. He has worked on ASEAN and APEC affairs all along, being an initiator of AFTA and APEC Leaders Meeting; has been Chairman of Steering Committee and Vice Chairman of Mekong Institute Council, Chairman of Khon Kaen University Council, and is a TDRI Founding and Board Member. PECC(TNCPEC)since August 2009 He was Minister of Energy, Minister of Commerce,Senator, and member of National Legislative Assembly and an advisor to several Thai PMs; worked as a Board member of National Economic and Social Development Board, Board of Investment, Bank of Thailand, Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand, and Insurance Commission. He also served as Chairman of Thai EXIM Bank.He is the Board Chairman of MFC Ass et Management Plc. And Ananda Property
Development Plc. and Brooker Group. And since January 2016, he has been an Independent Non-Executive Director of AIA Group Limited, Hong Kong.

Mr.Shigeyuki Abe was born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1948.He received B.A. from Osaka University in 1970 and the East West Center scholarship enabled him to continue to study at the University of Hawaii.After obtaining Ph.D. in 1977 he joined the United Nations ESCAP as an Economic Affairs Officer.He returned Japan to follow an academic career.He taught at Kyoto Sangyo University,Kobe University,Kyoto University,and Doshisha University.He served as the director of Contemporary Asia Research Center as well.He is currently an adviser of the 21st Century Research Institute.Development Economics is his specialization;his current research includes regional integration,foreign direct investment,Chinese economy,and Asian social security issues.His main publications are Japan-Why It Works,Why It Doesn’t(1997),The Trade Investment Nexus(2000),and Emerging Developments in East Asia FTA/EPAs(2007).
