Research Strategy Center

While taking advantage of the expertise and nationwide network expanded since the establishment of the Hyogo Earthquake Memorial 21st Century Research Institute, we ensure cooperation with a wide variety of research institutes and researchers across the country, strategically coordinate advanced research projects, and conduct research that creates safe and secure communities and realizes a society of coexistence. In addition, we disseminate our research results and the institute’s activities extensively at reporting sessions and through various media. We also organize symposiums and other events, using our network of researchers and research institutes both in and outside Hyogo Prefecture, in cooperation with mass media. The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake Memorial
Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution

The Hyogo Earthquake Memorial 21st Century Research Institute operates the Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution, established in April 2002 by Hyogo Prefecture with support from the national government. The institution strives to inherit the experience of and lessons from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, cultivate a so-called “disaster culture,” enhance local communities’ capacity for disaster risk reduction, and provide support for developing policies for disaster risk reduction, thereby helping realize a society with fewer disaster risks.
