Awards Ceremony for the Third Iue Asia Pacific Culture Prize and the Iue Asia Pacific Research Prize

The Prize Giving Ceremony for the winners of the Third Iue Asia Pacific Culture Prize and the Iue Asia Pacific Research Prize was held at the Osaka International Convention Center on Tuesday, November 2, 2004.
In the first session Representative Director Satoshi Iue (Chairman, SANYO Electric, Co., Ltd.) presented prize certificates and supplementary prizes to the prize winner of the Iue Asia Pacific Culture Prize, Mr. Tadashi Yamamoto and the prize winners of the Iue Asia Pacific Research Prize, Mr. Takeshi Nakajima and Mr. Daesong Hyun. In addition, Mr. Hiroyuki Yamamoto received a commendation, receiving a prize certificate and a digital camera as a commemorative gift.
After an explanation by the chairmen of the selection committees Prof. Ishii and Prof. Iokibe concerning the selection process, the prizewinners themselves introduced their research and voiced their thoughts at having received the prize.
In the second session, chairman of the editorial board of the Asahi Shimbun, Yoshibumi Wakamiya as well as Mr. Tadashi Yamamoto engaged in discussions on the theme of "Toward an Asian Citizens' Community - Japanese Cultural Power and Economic Power-", coordinated by Mr. Yutaka Katayama, Dean of Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies, Kobe University.
